A Brush with Kindness Crew Leader Committee Description: Habitat for Humanity is seeking Youth Leaders and community volunteers dedicated to the improvement of our Habitat community to become A Brush with Kindness (ABWK) Crew Leaders. No expereince is necessary, but good people skills and patience are a must. ABWK Crew Leaders will lead volunteers (mostly youth) in paint, clean-up, and/or gardening projects to build a sense of community in the areas Habitat is building. The time commitment is at least (2) full work shifts per month (7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.); plus attend a monthly committee meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. ABWK projects will be scheduled for most Saturday mornings each month. A Friday or Sunday may be put on the schedule for special circumstances. Advocacy Committee Description: Works to build awareness about Governmental affairs by providing information, education and support to those in need throughout the South Palm Beach Community. We want to insure that the public is not only aware of Habitat for Humanity of South Palm Beach County, our mission and why we do what we do, but also the opportunities that are available through government funding and support. Circle of Friends Committee Description: Serves as a liaison to churches and other civic and faith-based organizations, a critical source of support to Habitat’s efforts. Seeking to re-build the Circle of Friends but leadership is currently being sought. Chair: tbd Currently not meeting. Staff Assigned: tbd
Collegiate Challenge Committee Description: The Collegiate Challenge is a Habitat for Humanity International service program that provides an alternative Spring Break for college students. Since 1989, students have been able to register with local affiliates to assist in Habitat for Humanity’s mission of eliminating poverty housing. Each year, Habitat for Humanity is a host affiliate to the Collegiate Challenge program in late February and early March. Construction Committee Description: Directs and facilitates all aspects of construction including architecture, permitting and scheduling. Chair: Lou Boccardo Meets: Second Tuesday of each month, 6:00 p.m., at the affiliate office Staff Assigned: Patrick Lambe
Construction Crew Leaders Description: If you are interested in leading volunteers to complete work tasks on our construction sites, then being a Construction Crew Leader may be right for you! No experience is necessary…just an open heart and mind. Must be 18+, have good people skills, and be willing to undergo some training. The time commitment is at least four (4) full work shifts per month (7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. or 11:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.) for a minimum of three months; plus attend at least two workshops. Family Selection Committee Description: Evaluates and verifies applications from those seeking to become Habitat homeowners, investigates their finances and current living conditions, and chooses candidates who have the right mix of need and determination to build a better life for their families. Family Support Committee Description: Provides guidance, resources, and education while building relationships between prospective homeowners and Habitat for Humanity after the family has been approved for the Habitat homeownership program. Chair: Open Meets: Third Tuesday of the month, 5:30 p.m., at the affiliate office (more frequently as needed) Staff Assigned: Mike Williams
Finance Committee Description: Serves as the financial and accounting oversight with the objective of assuring sound fiscal management of the Affiliate resources. Reviews financial results and policies with recommendations for modifications in policies and internal controls. Chair: Open Meets: Third Monday of each month, 6:00 p.m., at the Affiliate office. Fundraising Committee Description (draft): Creates opportunties to support the mission of Habitat for Humanity of South Palm Beach County through Special Events, Annual Giving, and Major Gifts. Habitat ReStore Committee Description: Develops relationships with local building suppliers and other businesses who are interested in donating building materials or fixtures to the Habitat ReStore. Chair: Meets: Last Wednesday of each month, 6:00 p.m., at the ReStore. Staff Assigned: Hans Riede
IT Committee Description: Advises the Habitat for Humanity staff on technology issues; developing a long-range technology plan; reviewing operations and procurement in order to coordinate sharing of resources and eliminate duplication, and developing an inventory of computer equipment, software, and infrastructure. Land Aquisition Committee Description: Identifies and researches future home sites, pursues possible purchases, and reviews surveying and engineering aspects of planned building projects. Chair: Meets: Second Friday of each month, 12 noon, at the affiliate office. Staff Assigned: Mike Campbell
